Solicitors, Legal Executives & Paralegals

We are seeking to strengthen and expand our Residential Property Team.

Applications from solicitors, legal executives and paralegals with a minimum 6 months residential conveyancing experience will be considered.

We are in particular looking to recruit a solicitor or Legal Executive with two years plus residential conveyancing experience. Salary dependent on experience

Why choose MJP?
  • All trainees solicitors will when commencing their training contract be paid a minimum salary of £18,000
  • One day extra paid leave for each external exam taken during the training contract will be given
  • Training and experience in litigation (professional negligence and clinical negligence) will commence on a day release basis from the outset of the training period
  • You will be working on files under supervision from the outset - we recognise there is no better way to gain experience than to be exposed to clients and transactional issues from the word 'go'

  • Our approach to conveyancing is different and is largely based on modern technology and contemporary channels and modes of communication. For example, we do not operate with secretarial support or with paper files.

Training Principal

Your training principal will be David Pett.

David has had experience in most mainstream areas of work and has been the architect behind the development of our very own case management system and the fast expansion of our residential conveyancing department.

David recognises there have been some significant changes in approach since he was a trainee:

'I have noticed a change in our outlook to trainees since I started my training contract with MJP many moons ago. Trainees, rightly so, are now seen as an investment and an asset. A large amount of time is devoted to finding the right candidates and training them. Clients like consistency and continuity and this has to be demonstrated at every level of fee earner. The barriers between partners and 'staff' have come down and this has led to a more open, friendly and transparent environment where each and every one work as a team for the benefit of the whole business. Our 'open door' approach to training is a prime example of how this reduction in boundaries has and continues to benefit our trainees. Added to this is the increasing use of technology, the growth of diverse and challenging property transactions and other areas of work, and the emphasis on understanding and appreciating the importance of looking at the application of law as a business, all of which makes it a far more enriching experience for the trainee and those qualifying now are much more prepared and ready for life as a qualified solicitor'.
